Traditional Drama and Music of Southeast Asia Mohd Taib Osman

Attention: Collectors, historians, theatre buffs, and everybody who loves Asian theatre, music and culture!

Look what I found ~ especially for you!   A rare and valuable book!

Here's a 354-page collection of papers, edited by Mohd. Taib Osman (then president of the Malaysian Society for Asian Studies), published Kuala Lumpur in 1974, and absolutely packed with information on theatrical and musical traditions in Southeast Asia.

The book is written in English and subtitled "Papers presented at the International Conference on Traditional Drama and Music of Southeast Asia, Kuala Lumpur, 27th to 30 August, 1969."

The papers are organized by section, as follow ~

Section A: The Shadow Play in Southeast Asia
Section B: Traditional Theatre in Southeast Asia
Section C: Music and Musical Instruments in Southeast Asia

Throughout the book are a number of black and white illustrations, outlines, and several pages of musical notations, as well as scholarly documentation in the form of footnotes and two appendices.

The book is in very good to excellent condition.  The spine is firm, and the pages are clean and tightly bound. A few pages show some creasing but no tears, and there is wear to the dust jacket. There is a small scuff mark on the inside front cover, and a previous owner's name is written in ink on the fly leaf.

This book will ship free to the United States and Canada. For shipping to other destinations, please contact me through my Etsy Shop.
